KID PITCH BASEBALL

AA Division (89ers) : 8 & 9 Year olds

  • “Entry level” Kid Pitch instructional baseball division
  • Played like “real baseball”, but in a “non-competitive”, instructional setting
  • Must be age 8 by September 1
  • There are two to three events per week (typically, two games and one practice)
  • Continuous Batting Order (each team bats the lineup)
  • Standard hard ball may be used (with the option to use a safety ball which is a bit softer)
  • Strikes & Balls called and 3 outs per half inning.
  • Scores are kept in games (great opportunity for parents to learn score keeping)
  • No standings are kept
  • Players will participate in player evaluations in February.
  • Teams will be chosen by a COMPETITIVE DRAFT by each team’s coaches with team “parity” as the goal of the division.
  • 9 year-olds are eligible for the 9-10 year old All Stars team (8 year-olds are not eligible)

AAA Division: 10-11  Year olds  

  • Intermediate level instructional baseball divsision for boys and girls
  • Must meet age requirements by September 1 (for 10 year olds)
  • Season starts in early March and lasts until Early June
  • There are three to four events per week (typically 2 games and 2 practices)
  • 2017 games were on Wednesdays and Saturdays
  • Some games are “interleague” (facing teams from neighboring leagues like Ballard, Shoreline and North Central Little Leagues)
  • Every player must go through an evaluation and all players who are evaluated get drafted to a team (advanced nine year-olds may choose to attend evaluations if interested in playing up in AAA.)
  • Playing time is according to Little League rules (with no Drop 3rd Strike rule)
  • Continuous Batting Order (each team bats the lineup)
  • Scores and Standings are kept.
  • There is an end of season tournament, with championship game played at League Picnic in early June
  • 9 year olds are allowed to request to play up in AAA (but must attend both AA and AAA evaluations)
  • Inter-league Games are likely (with neighboring leagues to NWSLL).
  • All Stars: The District 8 All Star Tournament is an optional double elimination tournament played in late June to early July, with the winner going to the Washington State Tournament in Mid July.  The All Star team is chosen by Player and Coach voting.

Majors Division: 12 Year olds  

  •  
  • “Little League” Division, the most competitive 60′ division for boys and girls
  • Must meet age requirements by April 30th for 12 year olds and August 31st for 11 year olds
  • Season starts in early March and lasts until Early June
  • There are three to four events per week (typically 3 games and 1 practice)
  • 2017 games were on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays
  • Majority of the games are “interleague” (facing teams from neighboring leagues like Ballard, Shoreline and North Central Little Leagues)
  • Every player must go through an evaluation and all players who are evaluated get drafted to a team.
  • 11 year olds are allowed to request to play up in Majors.
  • Minimum Playing time rules are per Little League Rulebook.
  • Continuous Batting Order (each team bats the lineup)
  • District 8 Inter-league Schedule of up to 3 games per week
  • League Playoffs are double elimination (or round robin + single elimination tourney)  Championship game is at 1 PM at league picnic in early June
  • Winner of league championship will play in the TOC Wood Bat tournament, a single-elimination tournament held in June, in the 2 weeks following the end of season picnic.
  • All Stars: The District 8 All Star Tournament is an optional double elimination tournament played in late June to early July, with the winner going to the Washington State Tournament in Mid July, with the State Champion advancing to the NW Regionals in San Bernadino, CA in early August.  The winner of the NW Regional advances to the Little League World Series in Williamsport, PA in late August.   The All Star team is chosen by Player and Coach voting.

Juniors Division : 13 – 14 Year olds

  • 90 foot baseball
  • Must meet age requirements by August 31st
  • Minimum Playing time rules are per Little League Rulebook
  • Batting order is not “continuous” (each team bats 9 players)
  • District 8 Inter-league Schedule of up to 3 games per week
  • Winner of league championship game will play in the TOC Wood Bat tournament, a single-elimination tournament held in June, in the 2 weeks following the end of season picnic.
  • All Stars: The District 8 All Star Tournament is an optional double elimination tournament played in late June to early July, with the winner going to the Washington State Tournament in Mid July.   The All Star team is chosen by Player and Coach voting.

Seniors League: 15 – 16 Year olds

  • 90 foot baseball
  • Must meet age requirements by August 31st
  • If fewer than a full roster is available with NWSLL players, a “co-league” team may be formed by joining with players from a neighboring league.
  • Minimum Playing time rules are per Little League Rulebook
  • Batting order is not “continuous” (each team bats 9 players)
  • District 8 Inter-league Schedule of up to 3 games per week
  • All Stars: The District 8 All Star Tournament is an optional double elimination tournament played in late June to early July, with the winner going to the Washington State Tournament in Mid July.   The All Star team is chosen by Player and Coach voting.
