NWSLL SUMMER BALL

NWSLL SUMMER BALL

NWSLL Summer Ball takes place in July through early August and focuses on fun and development, with a weekday, game-only format and flexible rosters.

Registration typically opens mid-June.

Our league’s Summer Ball program is a special experience for many reasons:

  • It’s open to both NW players AND non-NW players:  Now’s a great time to play ball with your friends and family from other leagues.
  • There are no practices, just games.
  • The focus is on fun and development, not scores. Everyone plays every position—this is not playoff baseball.

There are now TEN possible divisions of play (older divisions may be combined depending on levels of enrollment):

1 – Summer League Baseball played on a 90-ft diamond (ages 12-15) - Open to graduating Majors, Juniors, and Seniors players (ages 12-15), including most age 12-year-old Majors players. Most games are played at Whitman MS, Lower Woodland Park, and Hamlin. Games usually take place Monday through Thursday, twice per week. Games start after the 4th of July, finishing with a season-ending tournament in early August. Summer League teams have expanded rosters to accommodate vacations. There are no practices.

2 – Summer League Baseball for Majors (ages 11-12) - Games are played at fields hosted by NWSLL, QALL, NCLL, BLL, SLL, and RUG. Games usually take place Monday through Thursday, twice per week. 5 – Coach-Pitch Baseball (ages 6-8) - This division will play Mondays on the Crown Hill playfield.  If enrollment is high, we may add a Wednesday group as well.  This is an intraleague, sandlot format for beginning players.  There are no practices.

NOTES:

If your player is between divisions, please take a look at our "Summer Ball Recommendations" chart linked at the top of this page. Generally players will play in the same division as in Spring.  One exception is for 12-year-old Baseball players who are encouraged to play up in 90' Baseball.

Coach volunteers are needed in all divisions. If you coached during the regular season (and/or are a cleared volunteer) and are available to help, please sign up (go through the same registration home page as your player).

Because our Summer field rental costs are spread across many different leagues, the cost of registering for Summer Ball is $60 for Tee Ball and Coach-Pitch and $75 for AA and higher.  Special Summer Ball jerseys are included in this fee.  If you have a Summer Ball jersey from last year that still fits, we appreciate you using it again (as they will be the same).  Hats will be provided to players who do not have one already, but otherwise re-use your Spring hat.
